Renowned for her sensitive artistry, vivid tonal colors, and expressive musicality, GaYoung Lee has established herself as a highly sought-after solo and collaborative pianist on prominent stages worldwide. Her ability to seamlessly integrate and elevate musical synergy with fellow musicians has earned her acclaim in solo, chamber, and vocal collaborations.
GaYoung's solo performances have graced prestigious venues and masterclasses under the guidance of world-renowned pianists, including Simone Dinnerstein, Philipp Vogler, Yonghee Chun, and Barry Snyder. She has also showcased her talent at notable international music festivals, such as the Saint Petersburg Conservatory in Russia and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
Since 2022, she has been collaborating with the Spanish Embassy as the accompanist for SYMT(https://www.spainculture.us/city/us/spanish-young-music-talents/) , working closely with young artists invited from Spain. This role highlights her exceptional skill in supporting and inspiring fellow musicians in cross-cultural performances.
As a vocal pianist, GaYoung has an extensive repertoire and significant experience. She has served as a collaborative pianist for entrance auditions at the Reva and Sid Dewberry Family School of Music at George Mason University. Additionally, she has held the role of Opera Principal Pianist at the Catholic University of Korea and has been an integral part of Mason’s Opera Productions since 2017. Her versatility extends to collaborations with instrumentalists across diverse disciplines, including strings, woodwinds, brass, and voice, partnering with internationally acclaimed musicians and mentoring young talents through recitals and masterclasses.
GaYoung's dedication to chamber music led her to co-found the Potomac Piano Trio, performing extensively throughout the United States. Her chamber performances are characterized by precision, passion, and a profound sense of musical connection.
Currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance (anticipated graduation 2025) at George Mason University under the tutelage of Dr. Linda Apple Monson, Director of the School of Music, GaYoung also contributes as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) in collaborative piano. In this capacity, she provides invaluable coaching to vocal and instrumental students, guiding them through recitals, lessons, and masterclasses.
GaYoung’s academic credentials include a Master of Music in Piano Performance from George Mason University, a Bachelor of Music from the Catholic University of Korea, and additional studies at Ewha Womans Graduate School of Music in Seoul. Her academic and artistic excellence has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Achievement Award in Graduate Performance, the Dr. Linda Apple Monson Endowment Award, and the College of Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship.
She has garnered accolades in major competitions, including First Prize from The Piano Society of Korea, Second Place in the Young Artist Piano Concours and Brahms Concours, and prestigious international honors such as a gold medal at the 2021 Grand Maestro International Music Competition and a silver medal at the 2021 North American Virtuoso International Music Competition. In 2022, she won Mason's Concerto Competition with unanimous acclaim, delivering a stunning performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 alongside the Mason Symphony Orchestra.
